Build a boat. Then find out if it floats.

Two boys carrying a full-size wooden boat they built, painted blue on the inside with red and white stripes along the hull, across a sidewalk towards a waiting trailer.
Built by campers, on its way to the lake. WOW! Camp, 2025.

WOW! by Storycation

Discover. Create. Collaborate. Become.

Hands-on, story-driven Experiences where kids enter a challenge, make something real, work with other people, and discover what happens next.

Here’s the challenge.

  • Clean this water.

Three children crouched on the ground around a water filter they built from a cut plastic bottle packed with sand and gravel, one holding it steady while it drips into a tub.
A cut bottle, sand, gravel, and one question: will it come out clean? WOW! Camp, 2021.
  • Make something move.

Danny Delgado at a whiteboard covered in dimensioned engineering drawings labelled base block, arm support and control panel, pointing at one detail while a girl stands beside him looking at it.
Before anything is cut, it is drawn. Working drawings for a hydraulic arm, 2022.
  • Turn cardboard into a game.

Danny Delgado holding up a cardboard plinko board with wooden pegs and numbered cups along the bottom, talking it through with a girl who is studying the build.
Danny working a problem through with a builder. WOW! Camp, 2026.
  • Then show everyone.

A large group of children holding up cardboard plinko boards they built, each one pegged, painted, and different from the others, with Danny standing among them.
Every board pegged and painted. No two alike. WOW! Camp, 2026.

What’s inside a WOW! Experience?

An Experience is the thing underneath the camp, Lab, workshop, or class: the story, challenge, making, people, and discovery that can travel into different places.

  • A story Something has happened.
  • A role You’re the builder. The inventor. The engineer.
  • A question Nobody hands you the answer first.
  • A challenge Something worth attempting.
  • Something to make Ideas have to meet real materials.
  • People who matter You’ll need someone. Someone will need you.
  • Reality that pushes back Things fall, leak, and run out of time.
  • Reflection What happened? What would you change?

Creative Acts

  • Build.
  • Invent.
  • Imagine.
  • Explore.
  • Tell.
  • Perform.
  • Trade.
  • Serve.

Different Experiences call on different ways of creating. We call them Creative Acts.
